This site is meant to mirror a version control system. Previously, the site was based on a status page, but that became a sad joke as the status became stale: It was a reminder that life happens.
So, why mirror a version control system? Well, much of my work is in process — plays approaching production and prose approaching publication.
Part of what interests me is the way the language of technology pervades our lives. This happens when we use that language of technology to describe ourselves — talking about our bandwidth instead of our time, our lives. So, a site that files my plays as pull requests is making that joke on purpose, at my own expense.
So, with this site, each series is a repository. Each play or book is a file with a version number, indicating all the revisions. Publications and performances are 1.0.0.
The version control also allows you to see how the work progresses, or doesn’t. There is a big gap between [2021] and [2026] because, as noted, life happens.
